Basha Bekele has become one of the most notable producers coming out of Ethiopia in recent years, known for being part of a new generation of producers who grow, collect, and export cherry themselves rather than going through the traditional co-operative system.
Basha manages multiple collection sites working with 126 outgrowers to collect cherry and only processes in dry or anaerobic methods.
What stands out in his coffee is not just the quality and care he gives to the coffee but also his support and commitment towards smallholders, continuing to pay a premium for delivering cherry to his drying stations.
Flavor
This coffee is sweet and syrupy with notes of peach nectar and mandarin orange that reminds us of a fruit cup, juice and all! We describe the finish as sweet cocoa, as it fluctuates between milk chocolate and chocolate cereal. Overall, this is a nostalgic Ethiopian coffee in its presentation and profile.
